Helpful Resources for Home Cooking

AMY GARDNER / March 27, 2020

DINING IN?

Yup!  It looks like we’re all dining in for the time being.  Which means, we have a little more time to make meals at home, whether we like it or not!  While this may be a welcome change of pace for some of you, it’s overwhelming for some others.

Cooking can be enjoyable when we have time to slow down and do it.  Plus, cooking can be a great way to teach math skills for those with kids.  If you’re in need of some helpful home cooking tips, we’re here to help!

Below, you’ll find some of our favorite resources for home cooking.  Whether you’re a novice in the kitchen or an experienced chef looking for some creative inspiration, we’re certain you’ll find something here that works for you.

Websites

Serious Eats – Includes cooking tutorials, recipes and insights into different cultural cuisines

Epicurious.com – Our favorite resource for recipes.  Great for foodies!

Allrecipes.com – Simple recipes that are family-friendly.

Salted TV  – Online cooking courses streamed right into your home.  From basics like an intro to root vegetables and soups to ice cream and Spanish cuisine, you choose classes that appeal to you.

Apps

SuperCook  – You choose ingredients you have on hand and the app searches for recipes.  How cool is that? It also keeps track of what you have in your pantry to help create a list of needed ingredients for any recipe chosen from their database of recipes over a million recipes.

Tasty – Fun food videos and over 4000 yummy recipes featuring step-by-step instructions.  Great for kids and teens!

Yummly – 2 million+ recipes collected from popular websites like Epicurious and Allrecipes.  You can save and organize your favorites and Yummly makes personalized recommendations based on your choices.  You can add recipes to your shopping list and the app organizes the list by recipe and grocery aisle.
