Behavioral Health Services Director

Reports To: Amy Gardner, MS, CEDRD, Owner/CEO

Hours/Week: 40

Job Location: Position is exclusively remote until we return to office.  Once we return, time will be split between Newton Centre and Framingham offices.

Job Summary:

Metrowest Nutrition is seeking a Behavioral Health Services Director to build and manage the psychotherapeutic arm of our practice.  This individual will provide strong clinical leadership to our growing behavioral health team and collaborate with our Clinical Manager to ensure highest level of clinical care across all disciplines of the practice. This is a new, central leadership role in our practice.

Metrowest Nutrition is a multi-disciplinary group dedicated to helping individuals heal their relationship with food, movement and body.  We specialize in eating disorders, disordered eating, pediatrics, sports nutrition and women’s health.  Originating as a nutrition counseling practice, we have recently expanded our services to include psychotherapy, occupational therapy and movement therapy.  We operate from an inclusive Health at Every Size (HAES) model and are committed to creating a space for diversity both within our team and for our clients.  We strongly believe that whole-person healing includes a close, compassionate investigation into all components of wellbeing: physical, psychosocial, emotional and economic while honoring an individual’s cultural identity.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are central to our mission at Metrowest Nutrition.

  • We strive to create a space for growth and learning around racial and gender equality
  • We hire staff with a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity
  • We provide our BIPOC clinicians with affinity group supervision and have engaged a DEI consultant to provide ongoing training and support as we strive to create a space for diversity.
  • We are involved in local and national organizations committed to increasing diversity in the dietetics and eating disorders fields

Our behavioral health clinicians see adolescents and adults primarily for eating disorders, trauma and mood disorders.  We see a number of LGBTQIA+ individuals and seek to employ clinicians who are trained in working with this population.  Metrowest Nutrition is committed to ongoing training and clinician development in effort to provide exceptional, inclusive care to those with eating disorders and trauma, including trauma resulting from marginalization and racism.

The role of Behavioral Health Services Director is a dynamic position, acting as supervisor to our mental health clinicians and liaison to other members of the senior leadership team.  The role includes developing and improving our systems of operation for behavioral health services, ensuring quality of care and adherence to practice standards, assisting with hiring new mental health clinicians and in partnership with the Clinical Manager, onboarding and training new clinicians.

Our ideal candidate has extensive experience with clinical leadership, specifically in eating disorder care.  This individual is a team player with strong leadership qualities and the ability to think critically and problem solve effectively.  Someone who enjoys working collaboratively, enjoys learning and mentoring others.  This role will initially be a hybrid position where the individual will see some clients (10-15 per week) and spend the rest of the time supervising other clinicians and developing the behavioral health component of our practice.  As this service arm grows, the position will evolve into a full-time leadership position.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Supervise mental health clinicians to assure quality of care and adequate support for clinicians and clients
  • Ensure timely submission of clinician notes, signing off on notes for those working towards licensure
  • Develop systems and standards of practice that align with our ethics, quality and mission as well as standards of practice for the mental health field
  • Meet bimonthly with CEO  to assess, plan, and implement needed systems and activities to support efficiency, growth and development of mental health services
  • Actively participate in monthly team meetings
  • Meet monthly with leadership/admin team to talk about improving efficiency and opportunity across disciplines
  • Maintain a caseload of clients, completing 10-15 sessions per week
  • Be available to clinicians as needed, setting aside hours for emergent case consultation
  • Participate in and provide insight into ongoing DEI training and discussions in this area
  • Be involved in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new staff to our practice, and supporting their ongoing growth and training

Qualifications:

  • LICSW, PhD/PsyD or LMFT (masters required)
  • At least 2 years of management experience in eating disorder setting managing at least 3 other clinicians.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to help other staff understand policies and their relationship to the larger organization’s functioning a must
  • Strong experience in insurance-based clinical settings, and familiarity with rules of billing, coding, and ethical practice
  • Innovation and strategic thinking should be a strength and a joy; brainstorming and new business development possibilities abound in this role.

  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
