Samantha Millette, LICSW

Social Worker
She/Her

Samantha has worked with a wide variety of individuals at different points in their recovery journey utilizing a client-centered, trauma-focused, and harm-reductionist approach to treatment

Samantha knew in high school that she wanted to go into the helping profession. Having experienced the frustration and confusion of navigating our medical and mental healthcare system first hand with her own family, she understands the unique challenges clients go through when seeking out treatment for the first time.

Samantha completed her undergraduate degree at Lesley University where she double majored in Expressive Arts Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. While at Lesley University, Samantha completed an internship at Boston Children’s Hospital in the acute psychiatric unit.  This was where she first developed an interest in eating disorder treatment.  She went on to complete her master’s in social work at Simmons University and an internship at Walden Behavioral Care, further developing her skill in eating disorder treatment.

Samantha is particularly drawn to the multi-disciplinary approach and passionate about challenging the oppressive influences of fatphobia and diet culture across the healthcare system. As a fat provider, she hopes to provide space for clients to explore the impact of these cultural messages and experiences on self-worth and the role they play in eating disorders.

Prior to joining Metrowest Nutrition and Therapy, Samantha worked as the Clinical Director of Cambridge Eating Disorder’s Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient programs. She worked through the COVID-19 pandemic and was instrumental in the inception of their Virtual IOP program. Prior to this, she was individual case manager and outpatient therapist.

Samantha has worked with a wide variety of individuals at different points in their recovery journey utilizing a client-centered, trauma-focused, and harm-reductionist approach to treatment. She’s also run a variety of therapeutic groups, including general psychotherapy, skills-based work, body-image, and self-esteem.  She continues to supervise interns and pre-professional staff.

Samantha’s therapeutic approach combines CBT, DBT, ACT, Expressive Arts Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. She is also very passionate about the treatment of trauma and hopes to one day conduct research in the intersection between eating disorders and PTSD/CPTSD. Additional interest areas include OCD, ADHD, personality disorders, self-harm, suicidality, program evaluation/development, and psychoeducation with providers/families.
