Alexa Riccio

Client Care Coordinator/Mental Health Counselor
She/Her

“I really enjoy supporting people in reconnecting with themselves and their values, and to walk alongside them in their healing.”

Alexa brings over a decade of experience across counseling, child development, and community health settings to her work at Metrowest Nutrition and Therapy. She has been part of the practice for several years as the Client Care Coordinator while completing her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Framingham State University. In her role, Alexa is often the first point of contact for new clients and plays a key role in coordinating care, supporting onboarding, and helping clients connect with appropriate services based on their unique needs.

Alexa earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Psychology from Lesley University in 2011. She began her career working with children and adolescents in the greater Boston area, supporting those impacted by trauma and ongoing mental health concerns. She later obtained certification in Child Development through MassBay Community College and spent five years teaching preschool, where she ran classrooms and developed curriculum.

After transitioning from education into behavioral health services, Alexa worked as a Certified Community Health Worker providing in-home support to families. In this role, she assisted clients with accessing healthcare resources, collaborated with schools around IEP planning, advocated for healthcare coverage, and worked alongside multidisciplinary teams to create individualized treatment plans. Her experiences supporting both the mental and nutritional needs of clients inspired her to pursue advanced training in psychotherapy in 2023; specifically with anxiety, eating disorders, and body image work.

Alexa integrates years of professional experience into her clinical work and is committed to providing individualized, compassionate care through a values-based, client-centered approach. She draws from approaches including talk therapy, motivational interviewing, and CBT- and DBT-informed interventions, tailoring therapy to each client’s goals and needs. Alexa works mostly with children, adolescents, and young adults, but enjoys working with clients across the lifespan and meeting people wherever they are on their healing journey.
