FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Perry Smizer, MS, RD, LDN
Licensed Dietitian
She/Her
“I believe the value in one's relationship with food far outweighs the nutritional content and enjoy helping clients work on this relationship"
Originally from Connecticut where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Perry moved to Massachusetts to work as a coach for an organization that provides nutrition education, physical activity and lifestyle counseling to children and families. This opportunity allowed her to work with families of different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. She enjoyed working as a coach and nutrition educator so much that she decided to continue her education and passion by pursuing an advanced degree in nutrition.
Perry completed a Didactic Program in Dietetics, as well as her Master’s in Science in Nutrition and Health Promotion at Simmons University. She then went on to also complete her Dietetic Internship at Simmons University. During her internship, she worked alongside dietitians practicing from an Intuitive Eating and a Health at Every Size (HAES ©) perspective and strongly aligned with this approach.
After working as a nutritionist at Women, Infants and Children (WIC) providing nutrition counseling to families, pre-natal and postpartum women, Perry joined the Metrowest Nutrition team to combine her passion for family work with her foundations in intuitive eating and HAES. In her time at Metrowest Nutrition, she has participated in extensive training and expanded her expertise in working with all types of eating disorders.
