Nicole Rivers, M.A.

Mental Health Counselor
She/Her

“I strive to provide compassionate and person-centered care to my clients on their journey toward full recovery.”

Nicole is a HAES-aligned pre-licensed psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with double minors in Child Development & Family Relations and Mental Health Rehabilitation from the University of Maine. In addition, she holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from the Boston College Lynch School of Education and Human Development. Her concentration of study during graduate school was Child and Families Mental Health and Wellness.

As an undergraduate, Nicole first became involved in the eating disorder field when she began volunteering for the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) Crisis Helpline. Throughout graduate school, Nicole worked part-time as a Recovery Coach at Monte Nido Laurel Hill, which treats adults with eating disorders at the residential level of care. Nicole further contributed to the eating disorder field by completing her graduate clinical internship at Walden Behavioral Care at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient level of care. She worked with both adults and adolescents, providing meal coaching and facilitating individual and group therapy.

From her field experience and education, Nicole developed a trauma-informed approach to supporting her clients. She utilizes various evidence-based treatments such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Nicole values a person-centered counseling approach to meet her clients where they are on their journey toward recovery and mental well-being. Nicole believes that her clients already possess the strength necessary to make positive changes in their lives, and she strives to employ a solution-focused approach with her clients to empower them to achieve their goals.
