Heather Lavery, MS, RD, LDN

Licensed Dietitian
She/Her

"I believe it's possible to quiet the noise from diet culture and wellness trends; I aim to empower you to feel confident in your relationship with food and exercise."

Heather has a strong background in sports nutrition and is passionate about helping athletes and active individuals challenge diet culture and heal disordered eating patterns in order to nourish and fuel their bodies for optimal athletic performance. She utilizes a Health at Every Size (HAES)-aligned approach, empowering her clients to establish lifelong patterns that fit their busy lives and training goals. She has experience working with a range of athletes, including first-time and repeat marathon runners, high school athletes, gym-goers, and individuals who are redefining their relationship with exercise.

Heather earned her Bachelor of Science in biology from Providence College and fell in love with the topic of nutrition during her senior year. She went on to a pursue a career in college admissions and international recruitment, always knowing that she would find her way back to nutrition one day.  After a few years in that role, she went on to earn her Master of Science in Nutrition and Health Promotion with a certificate in sports nutrition from Simmons University. From here, Heather went on to work at Fenway Health where she gained experience working with the LGBTQIA community.

Heather’s sessions are collaborative and conversational. She respects each person’s unique preferences, experiences, and needs, often blending principles of Intuitive Eating with sports nutrition to help clients heal their relationships with food, exercise, and themselves. In addition to nutrition counseling here at Metrowest Nutrition and Therapy, Heather teaches introductory nutrition courses at Rhode Island College.

In her free time, she enjoys baking, running and hiking, and traveling towards her goal of visiting all 50 states.
